Title First Flights A New Works Showcase on a blue sky background with a yellow lined paper airplane flying and a dotted line trail behind

From now until January 31, 2023, Everbody’s Theater Company is accepting submissions for First Flights: A New Works Showcase.

ETC is a 501(3)(c) nonprofit community theater based in Montgomery County, PA. Our objectives in sponsoring an evening of new works are threefold:

  • to allow playwrights an opportunity to showcase their original work
  • to provide directors and performers with the chance to collaborate on new works
  • to give audiences the experience of enjoying new theatrical work

  1. TYPES OF WORK: Creators can submit dramatic or musical works. The works must be original and unpublished.
  2. GENRE: Dramatic works can include comedy, drama, mystery, thriller, monologue, or a short musical (creator must supply track or accompanist). Musical compositions can be from a larger musical or a single Broadway-style song.
  3. PERFORMANCE LENGTH: Dramatic works should be between 10-30 minutes (set and strike inclusive); music selections should be between 5 and 10 minutes.
  4. CAST: Cast size should be between 2-8 characters
  5. TECHNICAL LIMITATIONS: Play settings should be simple, suitable for a small stage: minimal set pieces and limited technical effects.
  6. Playwrights may recommend a director (local to the Greater Philadelphia area) to direct his/her own play.
  7. Creators will submit their work via the form below; dramatic works must be in script format.

The submission form will ask you to share basic contact information, provide script details, and upload a PDF of your work.

There is NO FEE for submission; there is also no monetary award or compensation.

We will be contacting selected creators from February 5-10.

If your play/short musical is chosen, there will be an open audition in April. You will be able to work with the director and cast collaborating on rewrites.

If your musical piece is chosen, we will contact you regarding the performance of the piece.
